The Deputy Prosecutor III provides professional legal services, which include prosecuting felony, misdemeanor, and/or juvenile cases, making charging decisions, negotiating case settlements, and assisting the County Prosecutor with other legal and administrative work necessary to achieve the objectives of the office. Assignments may be made to prosecute specific types of cases such as major crimes, complex litigation, serious felony, and civil cases. The position provides general direction to assigned legal and other assistant support positions but is not a supervisory position. While the work is performed under the general supervision and authority of the County Prosecutor, the position is expected to exercise independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to manage the assigned caseload.
