Idaho State Police is looking for a part-time non-benefited Maintenance Craftsman (MC) in District 5 (Pocatello) to perform skilled trade duties in the operation, maintenance, and repair of buildings and related facilities and systems; perform related work.
PLEASE NOTE: The successful applicant will be required to complete a background investigation and polygraph examination.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Facility maintenance:
DAIKEN/HVAC
Clean, vacuum and/or replace filters
Check belts and exhaust fans
Grease motors and bearings every 6 months
Clean and/or replace filters in the duct work above the ceiling in the office
Fire Extinguishers
Conducts a monthly check of all fire extinguishers outside of forensics
Electrical
Maintains and repairs panels, circuits, wiring, and related systems
Replaces switches, receptacles, ballast's, fuse boxes, heat systems, motors, fans and lights
Repairs electric motors and extension cords
Installs communication cable and telephone lines
Assists journeyman electricians in new installations
Building
Assist Western Building Maintenance with carpet cleaning and window washing
Spray Roundup around the fences between the driveway and wrecking yard
Spray insecticide and granular Bug-B-Gone around the building
General cleanup of outside
Check emergency lights and exit signs in the main building, auto by and forensics
Inside paint touchups
Weight Room
Puts dry lube on the weights and washes the mirrors in the weight room weekly
Check the rowing machines in the workout room and if needed apply 3-in-1 oil and lubricate them
Check the vinegar and water mixture is available for cleaning the workout equipment
Security Gate
Tighten chain when it sags below 3”
Brushes an anti-seize when needed
Gun Range
Gather brass and pick up garbage
Burn cardboard cartridges, targets, and anything else that will burn, etc.
Flags
Place flags at haft staff as directed by Headquarters
Ensure flags are not ripped or tattered
Spare Cars
Keep cleared of snow
Miscellaneous
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Some knowledge of:
Experience:
Performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical and general building maintenance trades work
Using and maintaining tools and equipment normally associated with carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, and electrical work
Supplemental Information
Incumbents may work in all weather conditions and move in and around confined spaces. These positions are maintenance oriented. When working under the supervision of a licensed journeyman in a respective trade area incumbents can be an apprentice in that specialty. Work involves lifting and carrying items weighing approximately 90 pounds, bending, stooping, shoveling, and climbing ladders. Work may be required in remote and rugged terrain.
