Summary

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will work both independently and with other plant personnel to perform mechanical tasks on the internal fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. These tasks include preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, repairing failures, and ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. A Mobile Mechanic is also responsible for effective use of their time, be responsible with company-provided equipment and tools, and be able to work with other plant departments and groups to effectively achieve shared objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general and specific preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment. Requires the use of diagnostic equipment and procedures to maintain and repair mobile equipment.

• Participate as part of a team or independently in identifying and solving problems.

• Follow all safety and operating procedures

• Dismantle, adjust, and repair equipment according to maintenance specifications.

• Manage work time effectively and respond to production maintenance requests

Typical Education

• Post-secondary education/certification - Diesel Mechanics

Relevant Experience

• 5+ years related experience and/or training in diesel EQT maintenance

• Formal training in Diesel Mechanics through an accredited Program

• Proficiency as qualified diesel-automotive mechanic - demonstrated by passing a competency evaluation

• 5 years' experience operating Heavy Equipment - preferred

• Experienced with auxiliary equipment compressors, drive train maintenance on crawler type tractors, rubber-tired vehicles, hydraulic cranes, locomotives, and other related equipment

• Experience with CAT equipment and programs

Other Information

• Be familiar with industrial LOTO and safety procedures

• Strong Mechanical skills

• Able to read and understand procedure documents, drawing and process diagrams

• Be able to lift and move heavy equipment

• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to organize and plan

• Ability to work in all weather conditions

• Company truck and tools provided

• Typical work week is Mon-Thurs, 10-hour day shifts
