Job Title: Assistant to the Plant Manager

Location: Pocatello, ID

Reports to: Plant Manager


Job Summary:

The Assistant to the Plant Manager will provide essential support in coordinating and executing daily operations across the Pocatello plant. This role ensures smooth communication between departments, helps track and report key metrics, and assists with compliance, scheduling, and improvement initiatives. This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated professional to play a pivotal role in plant success while gaining hands-on experience in high-level manufacturing operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Plant Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring goals related to production, safety, and quality are consistently met.
  • Act as a communication hub between the Plant Manager and operations teams, including production, quality, and maintenance.
  • Assist in coordinating shift schedules, monitoring workflow, and helping resolve production issues or equipment downtime.
  • Collect, analyze, and present operational data and KPIs to aid in decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Help facilitate daily production meetings, review action items, and follow up on progress.
  • Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement initiatives as directed by the Plant Manager.
  • Maintain safety and compliance records, assist with OSHA and internal audits, and help coordinate training initiatives.
  • Work closely with department leads on staffing needs, onboarding efforts, and performance tracking.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support in budget tracking, planning activities, and operational reporting.
  • Promote a positive plant culture rooted in teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in an operations support or supervisory role.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.
  • Experience with operational metrics, scheduling, and problem-solving in a production setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and build rapport with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in transformer or electrical manufacturing is a plus.


Work Environment:

This role includes time on the plant floor and in an office environment. Flexibility with work hours may be required based on plant operations.
