Affiliates of Pennant Services now operate 115 home health, hospice, senior living, and assisted living agencies across 13 Western states and we expect this growth to continue. Instead, they operate independently with support from the "Service Center," a world-class service team that provides the centralized clinical, legal, risk management, HR, training, accounting, IT, and other resources necessary to allow on-site leaders and caregivers to focus squarely on day-to-day care and business issues in their individual agencies.

About the Opportunity

The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for managing and enhancing the relationship between employees and the organization. This role focuses on resolving workplace conflicts, promoting positive employee experiences, ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws, and fostering a productive work environment. The Employee Relations Specialist works closely with management, HR, and employees to address concerns, implement strategies, and contribute to overall employee satisfaction and retention.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a point of contact for employees regarding workplace concerns, complaints, or conflicts.

  • Provide guidance on company policies, procedures, and employment laws.

  • Offer coaching and support to managers and employees on effective communication, conflict resolution, and employee engagement.

  • Mediate and resolve disputes between employees or between employees and managers in a timely and effective manner.

  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints or workplace incidents, ensuring impartiality and fairness.

  • Develop and recommend solutions to address workplace issues and minimize future conflicts.

  • Ensure company policies are clearly communicated and adhered to by all employees.

  • Assist in the development, review, and implementation of employee relations policies, procedures, and programs.

  • Stay informed on labor laws and regulations, ensuring the organization remains compliant.

  • Help design and implement initiatives to improve employee morale, satisfaction, and retention.

  • Collaborate with HR to develop programs that promote a positive workplace culture.

  • Provide training to managers on effective employee relations practices, conflict resolution, and compliance with policies and laws.

  • Offer guidance and resources to employees on career development, workplace expectations, and professional conduct.

  • Maintain accurate records of employee relations cases, including investigations, actions taken, and outcomes.

  • Prepare reports on employee relations trends, concerns, and resolutions to senior management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

  • 3 years of experience in employee relations, human resources, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEOC).

  • Proven ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and confidentiality.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain impartial in conflict situations.

  • Experience with HR software and employee management systems is a plus.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR).

  • EEO investigation certified.

  • Experience in training and development.

  • Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
