Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Journeyman Carpenter to provide high-quality carpentry work across a variety of construction and repair projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in framing, drywall installation, cabinet making, and finishing, with the ability to read blueprints and architectural drawings. This role involves supervising student employees and working collaboratively with other tradespeople on-site to complete time-sensitive projects.
As a Journeyman Carpenter, your responsibilities will include reviewing blueprints or sketches to determine the materials needed and dimensions for construction. You will prepare layouts, erect frameworks, install insulation, hang drywall, and lay subflooring. You'll also fit and install prefabricated window frames, doorframes, trim, and finish hardware, ensuring high-quality installations. Experience with concrete work, ceramic tiles, and floor installations will be essential, as well as building and repairing cabinets, shelving, and furniture.
In addition, you'll be responsible for installing laminate and suspended ceilings, working on room modifications, and other related carpentry tasks. Your ability to guide and mentor student employees while working efficiently under deadlines will contribute to the successful execution of each project.
If you have four years of carpentry experience or hold a journeyman carpenter qualification, and you're proficient in reading architectural drawings and performing a variety of construction work, this position offers an opportunity to take on meaningful and diverse carpentry projects.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Experience:
This position requires a journeyman carpenter or four years experience in various carpentry activities such as framing, layout, dry-wall application, cabinet work, etc.
Skills:
Cabinet making, ability to read architectural drawings, ability to lead students and other employees on time critical work, ability to perform many various types of construction- concrete, framing, sheetrock, ceramic tile, laminate, etc.
